The Group of 77 (G77) is a group of developing countries in the United Nations (UN). The G77 was formed in 1964 by 77 countries that shared common needs and interests, such as wanting to have more say in the global economy and more opportunities to develop their countries. The G77 now has more than 130 members and it helps these countries work together to solve shared development problems. It also helps them work together to bargain for better prices and conditions when buying things like food, medicines and machinery from richer countries. In other words, the G77 is a group of countries that work together to get a better deal for their people.
