History of Islam

Islam is a religion that started about 1,400 years ago in a place called Arabia. A man named Muhammad was visited by an angel and told that he was chosen to be a messenger of God. Muhammad started preaching to people about this new religion and over time, many people started following him.

Islam grew quickly and after Muhammad died, a new leader called a Caliph was chosen to lead the Muslims. The early Muslims were united and they conquered many lands, but after a few centuries, different groups started disagreeing with each other about who should be the Caliph and how to interpret the religion. This led to a split in the Muslim community and two major branches emerged: Sunni and Shia.

Over the centuries, Muslims made many important contributions to the world, especially in the areas of science and art. They also built many beautiful mosques and monuments.

Today, Islam is one of the largest religions in the world, with over a billion followers. Muslims believe in one God and try to live according to the teachings of the Quran, which is the holy book of Islam. They also follow the example of Muhammad, who is considered to be the perfect example of how to live a good life.
