History of money

Money is what we use to buy things and pay for services. We've been using money since a long time ago, since ancient times in fact! People used to trade things they had like food, animals, or tools to get the things they needed. This was a fair and easy way to get what they needed without having to make all the things themselves.

As time went on, people started using coins or paper with pictures or numbers as money. Originally, the coins were made out of gold and silver, so it was valuable and hard to get. This meant that it held its value and could be used to get things you wanted.

Eventually, people got used to using money and it became the standard way to get things. Now, most countries use money to buy things, barter if you want, and even put it in a bank to save it for later!
