Well hello there! So, do you know what language you are speaking right now? It's English. But did you know that there are lots and lots of different languages in the whole wide world? Yes, there are! And today we are going to learn about one of those languages that is called Spanish.
A really really long time ago, there was a group of people called the Romans who lived in a big country called Rome. They started to conquer other countries and one of those countries was Spain. When the Romans arrived in Spain, they brought their own language with them, which was called Latin. Latin was the language that people spoke during the Roman times and it influenced lots of other languages too.
Now, let's fast-forward many years ahead. Spain became a really important and powerful country and started to travel to other parts of the world to explore, trade, and conquer. When the Spanish people traveled to these other places, they would bring their own language with them. Over time, the language began to mix with the languages already spoken in those places and it started to change.
For example, when the Spanish went to a country called Mexico, they found that the people there spoke a language called Nahuatl. They started to teach the people there Spanish, but the people there also started to teach the Spanish their language, so over time the two languages blended together and became what is now known as Mexican Spanish.
The Spanish language has also been influenced by other languages too! For example, when the Moors, a group of people from Africa, invaded Spain, they brought with them their own language, which was Arabic. So, parts of the Spanish language also have words that come from Arabic.
So, to sum it all up, the Spanish language has a really long and interesting history that involved lots of different groups of people and places. It changed over time as the Spanish traveled and conquered other places, and mixed with other languages along the way. And that's how the Spanish language has become what it is today!
