ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Hokkien people

Okay kiddo, do you know that people can have different languages and cultures depending on where they live? Hokkien people are a group of people who live in Southern China, Taiwan, and some parts of Southeast Asia like Singapore and Malaysia. They speak Hokkien, a language that sounds different from the language we speak at home.

Hokkien people also have their own customs, traditions, and ways of doing things that make them unique. For example, they celebrate important events like Chinese New Year and Dragon Boat Festival with their families and friends. They also enjoy eating dishes like Hokkien Mee and Oyster Omelette, which are famous in their cuisine.

Just like any other group of people, Hokkien people have their own history and stories that they share with each other. They take pride in their heritage and continue to pass on their culture to future generations. It's important to respect and learn about different cultures so that we can understand and appreciate the diversity of the world around us.
