ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Holocaust studies

Holocaust studies is when people learn about the really bad things that happened a long time ago to a group of people called the Jews. During this time, a man named Hitler came into power in Germany and he made a lot of people believe that the Jews were the cause of their problems. So, he made a plan to get rid of them called the Holocaust.

The Holocaust was really awful and involved killing many, many people just because they were Jewish or didn't fit in with what Hitler thought was right. People were forced to live in terrible conditions and were treated very cruelly. Many people died from starvation, disease, and other things. Some were killed in gas chambers, which were rooms that made people breathe in poisonous gas which killed them.

Holocaust studies help us remember what happened and make sure something like this never happens again. It also teaches us to be kind and respectful to others, no matter who they are or what they believe. We can learn about this time in history so that we can do better in the future and make sure everyone is treated with love and respect.
