Hylomorphism

Hylomorphism is the idea that anything that is alive is made of two things - matter and form. The matter is like the building blocks, like a block of wood, while the form is what the matter is shaped into, like the table that is made from the block of wood. Everything alive is made of these two things, and these two things together make the thing alive.
