ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Hypsography

Hypsography is how high or low the land is. Imagine if you look at a map and it has lines all over it, some closer together and some farther apart. These lines help us see if the land is mountains, hills or plains. Just like how you have different levels on a game or steps to get to different places, the land also has levels. Some parts of the land are really high up, like the top of a tall mountain, and some parts are really low, like the bottom of the ocean. Hypsography helps us understand and see these different levels on a map.
