Industrial metabolism is the process of turning raw materials into products that people use. Imagine a factory like a giant kitchen. When you make food, you start with raw ingredients like eggs, flour, butter, etc. The industrial metabolism is like that, but on a much bigger scale. Raw materials, like iron ore or oil, come into the factory and are turned into things like cars or plastic toys.
