ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Informational self-determination

Informational self-determination is all about you being in control of your personal information. It means you get to decide who knows what information about you, and who you trust with it. For example, if someone is asking for your name, age, favorite color, or address, you can decide if you want to give out that information or not. You might also decide if you want the information shared on social media or other websites, like your email address. It's all about giving you control over who knows what about you and giving you the power to decide what you're comfortable with.
