ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Insourcing

Insourcing is like playing with your toys at home instead of going to a friend's house to play with their toys. It means that instead of hiring someone outside of your company to do a job or task, you hire people within your company to do the work.

Imagine that you have a big puzzle to solve. You could ask someone you don't know to help you put it together, or you could ask your brother or sister who lives in your house to help you. This is like insourcing. You trust the people in your own house to help you get the job done, instead of looking for strangers to help you.

In a company, the people you hire may be in different departments or areas of the organization, but they are still part of the same company. Insourcing means that the company is using its own resources and employees to complete tasks, rather than hiring someone else from outside the company to do it. This can be a good way to save money and time, and to make use of the skills and knowledge that are already present within the company.
