An intensified charge-coupled device (ICCD) is a very fancy camera that can help us see things in the dark. Imagine you have a secret code that you can only see with a flashlight at night. Well, the ICCD is like a super-powered flashlight that can help us see that secret code.
The camera works like this: it collects light from what we want to see and then uses a special magic trick to make that light much brighter. This is like putting a magnifying glass over something to make it look bigger. But instead of making it bigger, we're making it brighter.
After the ICCD has made the light brighter, it uses something called a charge-coupled device (CCD) to take a picture of it. Think of the CCD as a piece of paper that the camera can write on with light instead of a pen. The ICCD also has a special feature where it can take many pictures quickly and put them all together to make a video.
So when the lights go out and it's too dark to see, we can turn on an ICCD camera and it will help us see things that we normally couldn't. It's very cool technology that helps us solve mysteries and see things that are normally hidden from view.
