International relations from 1648-1814 were about countries around the world trying to get along with each other, and working out agreements and treaties between them. During this period, countries would have talks and meetings with each other, and they would work out what they each wanted in a treaty or agreement and then decide if they both agreed. Things like trading with each other or not going to war were common topics of agreement. Countries could also form alliances with each other, which would mean promising to help each other if one of them got into a fight with another country. During this period, many wars were fought and some countries gained more power than others.
