Okay kiddo, have you ever seen older kids in bright colored vests helping younger kids cross the street or walk to school safely? That's the Junior Safety Patrol!
Junior Safety Patrol is a program where older students from elementary school volunteer to be helpers to keep other elementary school students safe as they travel to and from school.
The Safety Patrol kids are given special training by teachers or police officers on how to help keep their school and surrounding areas safe. They learn about safely crossing the street, making sure everyone is using the right sidewalks, and watching out for anything that could be dangerous to you or your friends.
Then, they take turns being on duty during certain times of the day helping kids cross the street or walk safely to school. This is a big responsibility, but it's also a chance for the older kids to feel like they're protecting and helping younger kids just like a superhero!
So, if you ever see kids in bright colored vests helping others cross the street, remember that they are the superheroes of the Junior Safety Patrol!
