ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Justice delayed is justice denied

Hello there! Justice delayed is justice denied means that if you have to wait for a very long time to get justice, it's like you didn't get justice at all.

Let's say you played with your friend and they took your toy without your permission. So, you go and tell your mom about it, and she says she will talk to your friend's mom about it. But days, weeks, and maybe even months pass, and still, nothing happens. Your friend never gives you back your toy, even after your mom talked to their mom. This means that justice was delayed and, in this case, never served, which is like not getting any justice at all.

Similarly, when someone does something wrong, it's essential that they face the consequences of their actions, and justice should be served as soon as possible. But, if there are long delays in the legal process, it can be frustrating and unfair for the victims. That's why we need to make sure that justice is served quickly, so that everyone involved can move on and feel like they have been treated fairly.
