ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Juvenile delinquency

Juvenile delinquency is when a young person (someone under 18 years old) breaks the law. It usually happens when a young person gets into trouble with the police, like by doing something like shoplifting or committing a minor crime like vandalism. It can also happen if they act in a way that is not accepted by society, like running away from home or uses drugs. When this happens, the young person is usually taken to juvenile court and can be sentenced with punishments like community service, going to reform school, or even jail.
