Kalpa (aeon)

An aeon (or kalpa) is a really long period of time (many years), so long that it's hard for us to imagine. It's like a really, really long stretch - imagine hundreds and hundreds of years passing by! In some religions, aeons are divided up into different parts, like the way we divide up years and decades. We measure time in different units, like hours, days, weeks and months, and an aeon is like a really long unit.
