Kitharode
Okay kiddo, so a kitharode is a person who sings while playing the lyre, which is a musical instrument. It’s kind of like a guitar, but it has seven strings and is played with a pick.
So imagine you are in ancient Greece, a really long time ago, before TVs and computers. People loved to listen to music and stories to entertain themselves. The kitharode would tell a story while singing and playing his lyre, and people would gather around to listen.
Sometimes the stories would be about mythical gods and heroes, like Zeus, Hercules, or Perseus. Other times they would be love songs or just happy tunes to make people feel good.
