Kithara

Hey kiddo! Today we are going to talk about something called a kithara. A kithara is kind of like a guitar, but it was played a long, long time ago in ancient Greece.

Now, imagine a box with strings on it. The kithara is kind of shaped like that. It has a wooden body that looks like a cross between a guitar and a harp. The strings are stretched tight across the body and they vibrate when you pluck them with your fingers.

But the kithara isn't just any old instrument. It was special because it was used in Greek mythology! Apollo, the god of music and poetry, was said to play the kithara. In fact, people often depicted Apollo as holding a kithara in their artwork.

So, to sum it up, a kithara is like a really cool ancient Greek guitar that was used by the god of music and poetry. Pretty neat, huh?
