Latticework

Okay kiddo, have you ever seen a grid or a net like the one on a tennis court? Well, that's kind of what a latticework is.

A latticework is a bunch of lines that crisscross each other to make a pattern. Imagine drawing a tic-tac-toe board, but then adding more lines that connect the corners and the sides of the squares.

But why is it called a latticework? Well, sometimes people use it to make a structure called a lattice. A lattice is kind of like a fence that's made out of crisscrossing strips of wood or metal. The strips form a pattern like the one we just talked about.

Lattices can be used for all sorts of things! For example, you might have seen them in gardens where they're used to support climbing plants like vines or roses. The plants grow up the lattice and make a pretty wall of leaves and flowers.

Latticework can also be found in other places, like on the screens that cover your windows or doors. These screens keep bugs out, but still let fresh air in.

So there you have it– a latticework is a pattern or structure made of crisscrossing lines, and it can be used for all sorts of things!
