ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Lingchi

Hello there! So, today we're going to talk about something called lingchi, but I'll explain it to you like you're 5 years old.

Lingchi is a practice that happened a long time ago in China. It is also known as "death by a thousand cuts." It's a very scary thing that nobody should ever have to go through.

Basically, what happened was that the person who was getting lingchi was tied up and then cut up multiple times. They were cut in small slices across their whole body, like tiny pieces of a cake. The practice went on for hours, sometimes even days.

The idea behind lingchi was that they wanted the person to suffer as much as possible before they died. It was a way of punishing people who did really bad things, but it was also used to intimidate other people.

But don't worry, lingchi doesn't happen anymore. It was very cruel and inhumane, and it's not something that anyone should ever do to another person.

To summarize, lingchi is an old punishment in China where someone would be cut multiple times all over their body. It's very wrong and doesn't happen anymore.
