Okay kiddo, so you know when you're playing with your toys and you build a big tower out of blocks? Imagine if there were lots of other kids building towers near you, and they made them really big too.
Sometimes, when everyone is building lots of big towers, they might bump into each other and get all mixed up. That's kind of like what happens in a river when lots of big pieces of wood floating in the water bump into each other and get stuck.
When lots of big pieces of wood get stuck together in a river, we call that a log jam. It can be really tricky to move all those logs so that the water can flow freely again.
Just like when you were playing with your blocks and accidentally bumped into someone else's tower, sometimes things in nature can bump into each other and cause problems. But with a little bit of work, we can always come up with a solution to fix it!
