Long distance calling

What is long distance calling, you ask? Well, when you want to talk to someone who lives far away from you, you can do it over the phone. But sometimes, the distance between you and the person you want to talk to is so great that it costs more money to talk on the phone. When this happens, it's called long distance calling.

Think of it like having a really long string that you use to talk to your friend who lives far, far away. But the longer the string gets, the more money it costs to use it. So, when you want to talk to someone far away, you have two options: either use a shorter string (or phone line), or pay more money to use the longer string.

Nowadays, with the internet, we can also talk to people far away using things like Skype or Zoom. These are like special magic boxes that let us see and hear the person we're talking to, even if they live on the other side of the world! But sometimes, even these magic boxes cost more money to use if the person we're talking to is really far away.

So, long distance calling is just a fancy way of saying that we need to use special phone lines or internet connections to talk to people who live far away, and sometimes it costs more money to do so. But with modern technology, we can talk to people all over the world without having to worry too much about long distance fees!
