ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Maeuntang

Maeuntang is a yummy food that some people in South Korea like to eat. It's like a soup, but it's not just plain water - there are lots of different things in it that make it tasty.

First of all, they take some fish - like cod or pollack - and chop it up into pieces. Then they put it into a big pot with some water and boil it. While it's boiling, they add lots of different vegetables, like onions, radishes, mushrooms, and peppers. These vegetables make the soup really colorful and healthy.

After a while, they add some spicy red pepper flakes and some other seasonings to the soup. This is what makes it spicy and flavorful. Finally, they let everything cook together for a while longer until all the flavors have mixed together.

When everything is done cooking, they turn off the heat and let the soup cool down a little bit. Then they scoop some of it into bowls and serve it with rice on the side. Yum!
