Malagasy people

Okay kiddo, have you ever heard of Madagascar? That's a big beautiful island off the southeast coast of Africa. And the people who live there are called Malagasy people.

Just like how you have your own name, the Malagasy people have their own name for their group of people. They call themselves "Malgache" which means "inhabitants of Madagascar".

The Malagasy people have a very unique culture because they come from different ethnic groups like the Merina, Betsileo, and Bara. This means that they have different languages, customs, and traditions.

One thing many Malagasy people have in common is their love for music and dance. They have their own traditional instruments like the valiha, which is like a guitar made out of bamboo. They also have their own dances like the Salegy, which is a fast-paced dance where people move their hips and feet really quickly.

Another thing that makes the Malagasy people special is their love for nature. Madagascar is home to many animals and plants that can only be found there, like the lemurs and baobab trees. The Malagasy people believe that these animals and plants are important to their culture and they work hard to protect them.
