Marker (linguistics)

Markers are words or phrases that help give structure to a sentence or phrase. For example, words like and, but, or and so help keep your sentences organized and make them easier to understand. For example, if I said: "I like cats and dogs" then the marker "and" helps to show that I like both cats and dogs.
