Mass consumption means that many people buy the same thing, very often. Imagine going to a carnival and seeing a bunch of people waiting in line for cotton candy. Everyone wants it at the same time, and they're all buying it. That's a bit like mass consumption. Companies make things, like toys or clothes, and lots of people buy them. When it's happening, it can feel like everyone has the same thing. But eventually, people get tired of it and stop buying it. That means the companies have to come up with something new that people will want to buy.
