ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Matthew 18

Matthew 18 is a part of a book called the Bible, which is a very important book to many people. In this particular part, Jesus is teaching his friends about how to treat each other when they do something wrong or hurtful.

He says that if someone does something wrong to you, you should first talk to them privately and explain how you feel. This is like if you were playing with a toy and your friend accidentally broke it, you would tell them why it made you sad.

If talking to the person privately doesn't fix the problem, then you should bring along another friend or two to help you talk to the person. This is like having a grown-up help you talk to your friend about how their behavior is making you feel.

If the person still doesn't listen or change their behavior, then you should tell a wise person like a teacher or parent to help solve the problem. This is like going to a grown-up who can help you find a solution to the problem.

Ultimately, Jesus is teaching us to forgive others and seek reconciliation when we have had disagreements or conflict with others. This means making things right and finding a way to get along with others, even when we don't agree with them.
