ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Midstream

Okay kiddo, let me explain midstream to you.

Imagine you are playing a game of catch with your friend. When you throw the ball to your friend, the ball travels from your hand, through the air, and lands in your friend's hand.

Similarly, in the oil and gas industry, there is a process called "midstream". This is where the oil and gas companies transport the oil and gas from where it is produced to places where it will be turned into usable products, like gasoline or heating oil.

So, let's say there is an oil field in Texas that produces a lot of oil. The oil companies don't want to just leave that oil sitting in the ground - they want to transport it to where it can be processed and turned into things people can use.

That's where midstream comes in. The oil and gas companies build pipelines and trucks to transport the oil and gas from the oil field to refineries or processing plants - this is called the "midstream" process. Just like when you throw the ball to your friend in a game of catch, the oil and gas travel through the air, or in this case through pipelines and trucks.

So, that's the basics of midstream. It's all about getting the oil and gas from where it is produced to where it can be turned into things people can use. Pretty neat, huh?
