Misplaced loyalty

Misplaced loyalty is when someone gives loyalty to the wrong person or thing. It means that you trust a person even though they don't deserve it because they have not been kind or helpful to you. For example, maybe your friend always tells lies and takes advantage of you, but you still forgive them and keep trusting them. That is misplaced loyalty because you are putting your trust in someone who is not trustworthy.
