Misplaced trust

Misplaced trust means that you trust someone or something when you shouldn't have. Imagine you have a piggy bank where you store all your money. One day, your friend comes over and asks if they can borrow some money because they lost their own. Your friend promises to pay you back, so you trust them and let them borrow some money. But after a few days, they still haven't paid you back, and you find out they spent the money on toys instead of their own needs. This is misplaced trust - you trusted your friend to pay you back, but they didn't keep their promise.

Similarly, you might trust someone you meet online and share your personal information with them. But later, you find out that they were actually a stranger who used your information to harm you. This is also misplaced trust because you trusted the wrong person. It's important to be careful with who you trust and make sure that you don't give away important things without thinking carefully first.
