Molecular genetics is a type of science that studies how molecules like DNA and proteins interact with each other to affect how organisms look and function. DNA is a special type of molecule that has instructions inside it that tell our bodies how to grow and develop. Proteins are made from the instructions in our DNA, and they help our body do all sorts of things, like digest food and fight off diseases. Molecular genetics studies how changes in DNA and proteins can change things like our health and physical traits. For example, if a child has a genetic disease, scientists can study the DNA of the child and their family to figure out which gene mutation caused the disease.
