Moscow Helsinki Group

Moscow Helsinki Group was a club of people who wanted everybody to be nice to each other in the Soviet Union. They didn't like it when big, mean people with power were mean to small, nice people without power. So they made a club to talk about how to make the big, mean people be nice to everybody else. They named the club after the two cities where they met: Moscow and Helsinki. Some people didn't like the club because they thought the big, mean people should be in charge and the small, nice people should just do what they're told. But the Moscow Helsinki Group kept meeting and talking anyway because they believed that being nice to each other was very important.
