ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

National average salary

Imagine you have 100 friends who all have different jobs. Some of them work as doctors, some as teachers, some as firefighters, and some as cashiers. Each of your friends gets paid a different amount of money for their job.

Now, imagine you add up all of the money your friends earn and divide it by the total number of friends - this is what we call the "national average salary." It gives us an idea of how much money people in the country make on average.

Of course, remember that this is just an average - some people make more money than the average, and some people make less money than the average. It all depends on what job you have and how much you get paid for it.
