Negative campaigning

Negative campaigning is when a politician or political campaign says bad things about their opponent. It's like if you and your friend were competing for something, and your friend said bad things about you to the judges to try to make you look bad. Negative campaigning might include lying about your opponent, accusing them of doing things they haven't done, or finding mistakes they have made and making them look bad. Negative campaigning makes the competition less fair because it focuses on the bad things about one person rather than the good things about all the people competing.
