ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Negative feedback amplifier

A negative feedback amplifier is like a machine that makes things louder. It takes in a sound, makes it louder, and then adds it back to the original sound, making it louder still. But this time, the added sound is a bit quieter - like turning the volume down - so the overall sound is not too loud. This makes the sound clearer and more consistent.
