Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty

The Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) is an agreement between many countries in the world to not make or use nuclear weapons. Nuclear weapons are very powerful and can cause a lot of damage if they are used. The NPT aims to prevent countries from making and using these dangerous weapons. In exchange for not making nuclear weapons, the countries that sign the NPT get the right to use nuclear technology for peaceful purposes like generating power in nuclear power plants. This helps countries and people have access to more electricity.
