Orwellian

Orwellian is when a government or organization exercises too much control over people's lives, sometimes in a way that takes away their freedom or violates their privacy. It's named after the author George Orwell, who wrote the books 1984 and Animal Farm, which describe a dystopian future with an oppressive government and no individual freedom or privacy.
