Panopticism

Panopticism is the idea that if people think they are always being watched, they are more likely to do the right things. It's like when you parents said they were always watching you even if you didn't see them - that is panopticism. So, even if no one can actually watch you all the time, if you think they could be, you'll do the right thing.
