ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Papuan peoples

Papuan people are a group of many different groups of people who live on the island that is called Papua New Guinea, which is way over on the other side of the world. These people have been living in their own unique way for a very long time, even before anyone else came to their island.

There are many Papuan tribes, or groups of people, and each of these tribes has their own language, traditions, and beliefs. Some of these tribes live in the mountains, some in the forests, and some near the sea. They all have different ways of hunting, fishing, and gathering food.

Papuan people have a very strong connection to the land and nature around them. They believe that everything in nature is connected and has a spirit or soul, just like people do. They also believe that they have to take care of the land and nature so that it takes care of them back. They do this by not overusing or wasting their resources, and by using sustainable ways of farming and fishing.

Even though Papuan people have their own unique cultures and languages, they have also had many changes over time. Some of these changes come from contact with other cultures, like when Europeans came to their island and brought new ideas and ways of living. This has affected the way Papuan people live and their cultures.

Overall, Papuan people are a diverse group of people who have their own unique ways of living and beliefs. They are very connected to the land and creatures around them and believe in taking care of nature so it takes care of them.
