Parliament of Canada

Okay kiddo, so in Canada, we have a group of people who have been elected by us to represent us in making important decisions for the whole country. This group of people is called Parliament.

Now, Parliament is actually made up of two parts, just like a bicycle has two wheels. The first part is called the House of Commons, and the second part is called the Senate.

The people who are in the House of Commons are called Members of Parliament, or MPs for short. They are like the people you might vote for in your school's student council. And just like your school's student council, these MPs come from all across Canada, and are supposed to represent the people who live in their electoral district, or their local area.

The job of the House of Commons is to make, debate, and vote on laws that affect everyone in Canada. They also talk about important issues, like climate change, healthcare, and education.

So that's the first part of Parliament. Now, the second part of Parliament is the Senate. The people who are in the Senate are called Senators. They are appointed by the Prime Minister, who is like the boss of Canada.

The Senators also talk about important issues, but they usually give advice to the House of Commons about what they should do. They check to make sure that the laws that are being made are fair and reasonable for everyone in Canada.

So there you have it, kiddo! Parliament is the group of people who make important decisions for Canada, and it's made up of two parts: the House of Commons and the Senate.
