Pasteurized eggs

Have you ever eaten scrambled eggs or an omelette for breakfast? Well, sometimes those eggs can have tiny germs called bacteria that can make you very sick. So, how do we make sure that those eggs are safe to eat?

One way to do that is by using pasteurized eggs. Pasteurized eggs are like regular eggs, but they have been heated up to a high temperature to kill any bacteria that might be hiding in them.

When farmers collect eggs, they clean them and make sure they are fresh. Then the eggs are put into a machine that heats them up to a temperature of 140 degrees Fahrenheit (60 degrees Celsius) for about 3 minutes. This is like a super-hot bubble bath for the eggs, which helps kill any bacteria that might be harmful.

After the bubbles, the eggs are cooled down quickly with cold water to stop the pasteurization process. This makes sure that the eggs are clean and safe for us to eat, without changing their taste or appearance.

So, next time you have scrambled eggs or an omelette, you can feel safer knowing that pasteurized eggs were used to keep you healthy!
