Pelorus (instrument)

Imagine you are trying to find your way home, but you don't know which direction to go. A pelorus is a special tool that can help you figure out which way to go by looking at the position of the sun or stars.

It's like a little telescope that you hold up to your eye and look through. You can then move the pelorus around to line it up with the sun or a star. The pelorus has a little dial that tells you which direction you are facing based on where you are looking.

This way, you can figure out which way is north, south, east, or west. This is really helpful if you're on a boat or in an airplane and you're trying to figure out where you are and where you need to go.

So basically, a pelorus is like a special tool that helps you navigate and figure out which way you need to go by looking at the sun or stars.
