Planetary habitability means whether a planet could be a home for living things. Small, rocky planets, like Earth, are more likely to be habitable since they have liquid water and the right temperature for life on the surface. Many planets in our Solar System and in other solar systems are too close or too far away from their star, so they are too cold or too hot for life. The best planets to look for life are ones that are just far enough away from the star that they have the right temperature. They also need to have water and gases like oxygen in their atmosphere. So, if a planet looks like it has the right temperature, water, and gases, we might be able to find life there!
