Plausible deniability

Plausible deniability means that if you are accused of something, you can pretend that you don't know what they are talking about, even if you do. For example, if your friend is accused of doing something wrong, and you know that they did it, you could pretend that you don't know who did it or you could even pretend to be surprised. That way, your friend could potentially get away with it and you won't get in trouble either.
