ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Political prisoner

A political prisoner is someone who has been imprisoned because they have opinions or beliefs that are different from the government's. They also might have spoken out against the government in some way. For example, if a country has a government that doesn't allow people to criticize it, then people who do criticize it could be arrested and put in jail as political prisoners. They could also be arrested if they join a group or organization that speaks out against the government. Basically, political prisoners are people who the government doesn't like because they don't agree with them or do things that the government doesn't like.
