ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Powerlifting

Powerlifting is a sport where you lift heavy weights in three different ways: squatting, bench pressing, and deadlifting.

When people do powerlifting, they usually do it in a competition. In a competition, you get three tries to lift as much weight as you can in each of the three ways: squatting, bench pressing, and deadlifting. The weight is measured in kilograms.

Powerlifting is different from other types of lifting because you don't need to lift the weight very quickly like you might in weightlifting.

To prepare for powerlifting, you need to train your body and build up your muscles to be strong enough to lift heavy weights. You practice lifting lighter weights and gradually increase the weight as you get stronger.

Powerlifting is a way to show off your strength and compete with other people who are just as strong as you. It can be a fun way to challenge yourself and see how much you are capable of lifting.
