Proto-city

Proto-city is a word that describes a place where people began to live together in larger groups. Before that, humans mostly lived in small groups, like families or bands of hunters and gatherers. A proto-city was the first step towards building a real city.

Imagine you and your friends playing together in a playground. You might eventually want to build a treehouse or fort together too, right? Well, this is kind of what happened with proto-cities. People started to live closer together in one place, often near a river or another source of food or water. They built little homes or shelters out of natural materials like sticks, leaves, and mud.

As they started to live closer together, they began to develop different jobs and trades. Some people might become farmers, others might become blacksmiths or carpenters. This allowed people to trade goods and services, which made life easier for everyone. Slowly, proto-cities grew bigger and bigger until they became the big cities we know today!
