ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Pseudogapping

Pseudogapping is when you leave out the words at the end of a sentence but still give enough information for people to understand what you are saying. It's like a puzzle where you have to figure out what is missing.

For example, if someone says "I like pizza, and my friend does too," you can figure out that they mean "my friend likes pizza too" even though they didn't say those words. This is called pseudogapping because it seems like something is missing, but you can still figure out what they mean.

It's kind of like a shorthand way of speaking or writing, where you don't have to say all the words to get your point across. But it's important to use it correctly and make sure people can understand what you mean, otherwise it can be confusing.
