QUANGO

A quango is like a club that does things for the government. The government wants some things to be done, but they don't want to do it themselves, so they ask some people to help them do it. These people then create a new group, which is called a quango.

This group has some people in it who are appointed by the government, and some people who are not. They work together to do the things that the government wants them to do.

Sometimes, people are not very happy about quangos because they think that they are not very different from the government itself. They might say that quangos are a waste of money, or that they don't really do anything useful. But sometimes, quangos can be really helpful because they can provide expertise that the government doesn't have, or they can help the government to do things that it wouldn't be able to do otherwise.
